329. Rainbow Bake Sale + Registration!

On the 15th of November, I’d teamed up with Aidil from 4bakerboys/Dainty Candy to hold another Rainbow Bake Sale! This time round, we gathered 6 beautiful bakers and one henna artist at my favourite cafe, Wilder at Arab Street, to raise funds for the orphanages in Batam as well as orphan Syrian refugees in Turkey.

It’s always a humbling experience to see the magic that happens when people of similar interests and passions come together for a cause greater than their own personal gain.

This time round, we had our home boy and girls – Dainty Candy and The Cake Anthem – with us once again, together with new additions to the family – Meraki by D, Amal’s Treats, Cakebots, The Mixing Bowl & Sarah Henna Art! (All of them are on Instagram by the way, so go and follow them!)

They even managed to surprise me for my birthday halfway during the sale!

Now, back to the main topic! We managed to raise $2800 during the bake sale, alhamdulillah! A portion of it was immediately handed over to the Batam orphanages the following day, as I celebrated my 25th birthday with His chosen ones.

The next Rainbows for Batam trip is confirmed, alhamdulillah!

The RainbowsforBatam Jan 2016 team will be spending time at a Panti Asuhan Riyadhus Shalihin, with the intention to build relationships with the children and guardians, to learn from the beautiful soul and to share the few things that we know and have with them.

Besides our usual hands-on activities with the children consisting of colourimg, art&crafts, ball games and henna painting, we will be refurbishing 2 classrooms, both of which are in severely run-down conditions. We will be repainting the walls and providing learning materials such as whiteboards, stationeries, notebooks and educational posters.

The details for the trip are as follows:
Date/Day: 30-31 January 2016, Saturday-Sunday
Fee: $160

The fee includes a return ferry ticket, a one-night stay in a twin-sharing hotel room, breakfast and lunch for both days, dinner for one night, local transportation in Batam, donations to the children home, administrative fees, and project materials.  Personal expenses and insurance are not included.

Registration will close on  14 January 2016 or when all slots are taken up, whichever is earlier! Please note that confirmation of participatiom is only upon full payment, and any participation withdrawal within a week of departure is liable to a penalty of 50% of the fee.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Lots of love & hugs,
Atikah Amalina

  1. As Salam my dear.

I am keen to join for your batam trip but I would like to bring either 1 or 2 of my daughters along is that ok? And how much will it be for them?

    As Salam. Aryati Yakub

    • Salaam kak!

Thank you so much for your interest! ❤

Hmmm, I wouldn't recommend bringing along young children for this particular trip because we'll be engaging in quite heavy duty work which might not be suitable for young children.

Perhaps future daytrips when the focus is more on playing and engaging with the orphans would be more suitable? 🙂

      Warm Hugs,
